Palm Coast, Florida wasn’t designed around beaches alone — it was designed around golf. When the community was master-planned in the 1970s, golf courses were embedded into the layout from the beginning, and decades later Palm Coast remains one of Florida’s premier golf destinations. With over a dozen courses within 20 minutes of Palm Coast’s center, golfers can play a different course every day of a full week’s vacation without repetition.
Why Palm Coast Is a Golfer’s Destination
Beyond the sheer number of courses, Palm Coast’s golf scene offers:
- Year-round playability — Northeast Florida’s mild winters mean 12 months of golf, with the sweetest conditions in October through May
- Affordable green fees — compared to the Orlando or Naples golf corridors, Palm Coast courses offer excellent quality at lower prices
- Varied terrain — ocean views, water hazards, marshland settings, and wooded fairways give each course a distinct character
- World-class private options — for members and invited guests, Hammock Dunes and Matanzas Pines represent the pinnacle of Northeast Florida golf
Public and Semi-Private Courses in Palm Coast
Palm Harbor Golf Club
One of Palm Coast’s most popular public courses, Palm Harbor runs alongside the Intracoastal Waterway and features beautiful marsh and water views throughout. The 18-hole layout plays to around 6,600 yards from the back tees and offers a fair but interesting challenge for mid-handicappers. Green fees are very reasonable, and the condition is typically excellent. Best for: golfers looking for a scenic round with Intracoastal views at a fair price.
Matanzas Woods Golf Club
A well-regarded semi-private course in the western part of Palm Coast, Matanzas Woods plays through a wooded setting with mature trees lining most fairways. It demands accuracy off the tee and rewards course management. The greens are typically among the best-maintained in the area. Best for: players who prefer a tree-lined, strategy-focused layout over wide-open water courses.
Pine Lakes Country Club
Another semi-private option in Palm Coast, Pine Lakes offers a traditional parkland-style layout with water on many holes and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It’s a good option for mixed groups of varying abilities. Best for: casual rounds with a mix of skill levels.
Cypress Knoll Golf Club
One of Palm Coast’s most accessible courses, Cypress Knoll is ideal for higher handicappers and golfers who prioritize pace-of-play and value. The course plays through a cypress-lined setting and has an affordable daily fee. Best for: beginners and casual players, or golfers looking to squeeze in a quick 18 after a beach morning.
Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club Golf Course
A shorter executive-style layout that’s perfect for a quick round or for golfers who want to sharpen their short game. Better suited as a warmup than a destination round. Best for: a quick 9 holes or working on iron play.
World-Class Private Courses
Hammock Dunes Club
If you have an invitation to play Hammock Dunes, take it. This members-only club features two Tom Fazio-designed courses — the Links Course, which hugs the Atlantic Ocean and plays through dune terrain, and the Creek Course, which winds through maritime hammock and tidal marsh. The Links Course in particular is considered one of the finest in all of Florida. The clubhouse, dining, and overall experience are equally elite.
Matanzas Pines
A private residential club community adjacent to the Intracoastal with a beautifully maintained course and an intimate membership. More understated than Hammock Dunes but equally well-appointed.
Courses Worth the Short Drive
Within 30–40 minutes of Palm Coast, golfers can also access:
- World Golf Village (St. Augustine) — Home of the World Golf Hall of Fame and multiple world-class courses including the King & Bear (Arnold Palmer/Jack Nicklaus design) and The Slammer & Squire. A bucket-list round.
- TPC Sawgrass (Ponte Vedra Beach) — About 60 minutes north, the stadium course home of THE PLAYERS Championship. You can play it. It is as hard as it looks.
- LPGA International (Daytona Beach) — Two championship courses about 35 minutes south, with one of the best practice facilities in Northeast Florida.
